Toshiba Satellite P845-4200 Laptop Review

By Matt Marine

September 3, 2012

Almost ten years ago, I bought a Toshiba tablet laptop. It was awesome and it worked flawlessly for a long time. It was one of the most dependable computers I have ever owned. Then, about two years ago, it gave out. I bought a cheap Toshiba to replace it.

That Toshiba was okay. I told myself you get what you pay for. The button on the trackpad broke about six months ago. I nursed it along until the battery started to give out.

I decided to give Toshiba another try and bought the new P845-4200 from Best Buy. It was a great deal, but only after two weeks, I am going to return it. It has been the worst laptop I have ever owned.

After this laptop, my allegiance to Toshiba is gone. Maybe it was just the compute I received, but I don't believe so.

The bottom line

Although I had been a diehard Toshiba fan for 10 years, I am no longer. I would buy something else. For me, working on the bus, this laptop was almost unusable. Although my major problem was with the trackpad, when I looked for another replacement, I found many trackpad felt similar. I finally settled for a little bit older Lenovo with an older style trackpad (E420). I'll let you know what I think about that soon.
