On the (Rail) Road Again

By Sara Harelson

The Verde Canyon Railroad, also referred to as ‘Arizona’s longest running nature show’, is a scenic train in Clarkdale, Arizona where patrons can spend four hours viewing Northern Arizona’s beauty.  Once used as a mining train, the railway now takes passengers 20 miles into the wild countryside, through beautiful red rock canyons and dark tunnels where you may see bald eagles, javelina, and wild burros.

Not only is the staff incredibly kind and attentive, the food and drink on board are top notch. Enjoy a prickly pear margarita and soak in the absolutely gorgeous views from the comfort of a vintage passenger or an open car.  It truly is a family friendly experience for the nature lovers of all kinds
