Tobey Schmidt

My name is Tobey Schmidt, and I’m a sophomore at the University of Arizona with a passion for journalism, photography, and environmental studies. I’ve lived in Washington, Illinois and California, though Indiana is where I spent the last ten years of my life before I came to Arizona for college. I began rock climbing last year and I really don’t think I’ll ever stop. There’s no feeling of accomplishment like it.

I want to be outside about 99% of my life. I work for Outdoor Adventures at the campus rec center, where my coworkers and I  lead trips to surf, backpack, mountain bike, cross-country ski and more. I hope to make a career out of my love for the outdoors, photography and writing. My dream job is to work for the National Geographic Travel or Adventure magazines.

Through my writing and photos I hope to inspire others to get outside and enjoy the world as I do. I want people to have similar positive experiences that I’ve had while exploring the great southwest.
