Nick Smallwood

My name is Nick Smallwood, and I am a junior studying journalism and communications at the University of Arizona. I was born in Tucson, but grew up in the small town of Safford, Arizona, where my love for the outdoors was kindled by my parents. When I was a young, I remember taking trips around the state with my family, and getting to experience the beauty of this incredibly diverse place. In essence, it was the combination of these travels and the experiences I had along the way, which sparked my love for adventure.

I find myself most passionate about the art of storytelling and the relationships it tends to form. Whether it be through photography, filmmaking, writing, or acting, I have always found joy in sharing my vision with others. While my dream job would be working as a photojournalist for National Geographic or Outside Magazine, I just want to look back and say that I was able to make difference in the lives of others by doing something I enjoyed. Life is too short to do something you hate, so why not spend it doing something you love?

Through my internship at Experience Arizona, my goal is to bring my passion for storytelling, and that childhood sense of discovery to all of those who wish to accompany me along on my journey.
